Description: The monoclonal antibody STRO-1 recognizes STRO-1, a bone marrow (immature) mesenchymal cell surface protein. Pluripotent stromal cells can give rise to several lineages: osteoblasts and chondrocytes, which form bone, adipocytes or hematopoietic cells. STRO-1+ cells when co-transplanted with hematopoietic stem cells have been shown to reduce the occurrence of graft versus host disease. In addition, in vitro cultures of Stro-1+ cells along with CD34+ cells give rise to CFUs (colony forming units) composed of hematopoietic precursors, establishing a supporting role of these mesenchymal cells in blood cell development. The STRO-1 antibody has been reported to recognize both bovine and rat Stro-1 protein. Applications Reported: This STRO-1 antibody has been reported for use in flow cytometric analysis, immunocytochemistry, and immunohistochemical staining of frozen tissue sections. Applications Tested: This STRO-1 antibody has been tested by immunocytochemistry on methanol-fixed MG-63 cells and can be used at less than or equal to 20 µg/mL. The STRO-1 antibody has also been tested by flow cytometry on MG-63 cells and can be used at less than or equal to 0.5 µg/test.
