This beta Amyloid (1-42) antibody (44-3449) is purified from rabbit serum by epitope-specific affinity chromatography. Any reactivity towards both full length Abeta 40 and Abeta 43 protein has been eliminated through a series of preabsorption steps. This antibody shows no significant cross-reactivity against Abeta 40 or Abeta 43. Beta amyloid is a 40–43 amino acid peptide cleaved from amyloid precursor protein by a protease, gamma-secretase. Beta Amyloid (1-40) (Amyloid beta 40 or Abeta 40) together with beta Amyloid (1-42) (Amyloid beta 42 or Abeta 42) are two major C-terminal variants of the amyloid beta protein, constituting the majority of amyloid beta proteins. Both the Amyloid beta 40 and Amyloid beta 42 alloforms are major components of the extracellular plaques found in Alzheimer's disease brain tissue.
