MA1-40129 detects LBP from human, bovine, dog, goat, cynomologous monkey, rabbit, rat, sheep, and swine samples. Does not react with mouse or equine samples. MA1-40129 has been successfully used in immunoprecipitation, functional assays and ELISA applications. Not useful in Immunohistochemistry or Western blot applications. ELISA: monoclonal antibody 3F9 can be used both as coating and as detector. The MA1-40129 immunogen is human natural and recombinant LBP. Endotoxin <24 EU/mg. The LBP protein is involved in the acute-phase immunologic response to gram-negative bacterial infections. Gram-negative bacteria contain a glycolipid, lipopolysaccharide (LPS), on their outer cell wall. Together with bactericidal permeability-increasing protein (BPI), the encoded protein binds LPS and interacts with the CD14 receptor, probably playing a role in regulating LPS-dependent monocyte responses. This protein is part of a family of structurally and functionally related proteins, including BPI, plasma cholesteryl ester transfer protein (CETP), and phospholipid transfer protein (PLTP). Finally, this gene is found on chromosome 20, immediately downstream of the BPI gene.
