This product does not require antigen retrieval using heat treatment prior to staining of paraffin sections. A suggested positive control for immunohistochemical applications is human hypophysis. Rat anti Human CD235a antibody, clone YTH89.1 recognizes glycophorin A, a major sialoglycoprotein of the human erythrocyte membrane. CD235a (Glycophorins A, GPA) is a single pass membrane sialoglycoprotein expressed in mature erythrocytes and erythroid precursor cells. CD235a is the carrier of blood group M and N specificities. CD235a provides cells with a large mucin-like that may serve as a barrier to cell fusion, minimizing aggregation between red blood cells in the circulation. CD235a has been shown to act as a receptor for Sandei virus, parvovirus, and Hsa, an Streptococcus adhesin.
