Briakinumab represents a novel approach to treating psoriasis, Multiple Sclerosis, Crohn's Disease and other autoimmune and inflammatory disorders. As of 2011 pharmaceutical development for psoriasis has been discontinued in the U. S. and Europe. Briakinumab targets and neutralizes interleukin-12 and interleukin-23.
