Product Description
In direct ELISAs and Western blots, approximately 50% cross-reactivity with recombinant mouse (rm) Serpin F2 is observed and less than 1% cross-reactivity with recombinant human (rh) Serpin A1, rhSerpin A3, rhSerpin A4, rhSerpin A5, rmSerpin C1, and rmSerpin D1 is observed. Reconstitute at 0.2 mg/mL in sterile PBS. This gene encodes a member of the serpin family of serine protease inhibitors. The protein is a major inhibitor of plasmin, which degrades fibrin and various other proteins. Consequently, the proper function of this gene has a major role in regulating the blood clotting pathway. Mutations in this gene result in alpha-2-plasmin inhibitor deficiency, which is characterized by severe hemorrhagic diathesis. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.
