Product Description

PEP-013 is a 15 amino acid (amino acids 247-261) synthetic peptide whose sequence is from the ER-DNA binding domain of the estrogen receptor a. The sequence of this peptide is (amino to carboxy terminus): E-V-G-M-M-K-G-G-I-R-K-D-R-R-G This peptide may be used for neutralization and control experiments with the monoclonal antibody that reacts with this product and estrogen receptor a, catalog # MA1-310. Using a solution with equal weights per unit volume of peptide and corresponding antibody will yield a solution with a large molar excess of peptide that is able to competitively bind the antibody. Reconstitute with 0.1 mL of distilled water. Estrogen Receptors (ER) are members of the steroid/thyroid hormone receptor superfamily of nuclear receptors. The estrogen receptor is a ligand-activated transcription factor, that when bound to estrogen hormone, induces a conformational change that allows dimerization and binding to estrogen response elements (ERE) in DNA. When bound to EREs, ER can positively or negatively regulate gene transcription through the recruitment of coactivator or corepressor proteins. There are two different forms of the estrogen receptor, alpha and beta, encoded by separate genes (ESR1 and ESR2, respectively). Due to alternative RNA splicing, at
