Superoxide Dismutase plays a critical role in the defense of cells against the toxic effects of oxygen radicals. Superoxide Dismutase competes with nitric oxide (NO) for superoxide anion (which reacts with NO to form peroxynitrite) , thereby Superoxide Dismutase promotes the activity of NO.
